Merrick Brannigan is a 17-year-old singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. Following sessions at Grand Street Recording in Brooklyn, NY, he released his debut EP The Breeze in September of 2024. In addition, he often performs with his longtime friend Cole Corper on Nantucket Island and in New York City. With undeniable chemistry, they have performed together for over three years, adopting a folk-rock style and releasing songs under the name 45 Turns.
Merrick began guitar lessons at seven years old and started singing at ten years old with an instant passion for music. His career launched in 2019 when he won Nantucket’s Got Talent at 11 years old with his soulful rendition of “House Of The Rising Sun” by The Animals. His captivating songwriting evolved during the 2020 pandemic. Since then, he has played countless gigs on Nantucket, in New York City, and across Eastern Massachusetts. He is a regular performer at venues including The Bitter End in NYC and Cisco Brewers on Nantucket.
Heavily influenced by songwriters like Noah Kahan, The Lumineers, and a collection of folk-rock artists, his original songs are rooted in folk-pop, indie, and rock. He featured two original songs on Nantucket’s radio station — 97.7 ACK FM — in the summer of 2021. As he records his music, his style has defined itself more than ever. Whether Merrick performs solo or with his collaborators, his versatility as a musician and songwriter is apparent to audiences of any kind.
